Couple of weeks a go I've able to setup and configure Microsoft Dynamics 365 for operations VM on my Laptop. So I'm sharing my experience and hope it will helpful for others as well.
So here is the requirements
- 100 GB Free Disk Space (Minimum)
- at least 8 GB RAM
- Windows 8.1 OS or above with Hyper-V Role Enabled
Download VM from following Links:
- Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition 7.3 with Platform update 12:https://aka.ms/finandops73pu12
- Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition July 2017 (7.2) with Platform update 12: https://aka.ms/finandops72pu12
after downloading all files put in same folder and run /open FinanceAndOperations-EEJuly2017withPlatUpdate12.part01.exe to extract whole VM. After extracting you will get .vhd file (not vhdx) file as follows(My VM is platform update 11 so it will looks like as follows).
So if it is done already , we can move to next steps.
So Open Hyper V Manager Right Click on Server Node then click on New -> Virtual Machine.
Click on next .Enter Name for VM as your preference . then click next.
Select Generation 1 under "Choose the generation of this virtual machine" section.(Because it's .vhd ).
Assign Amount of Memory in MB and uncheck "Use Dynamic Memory for this virtual machine." .Keep in mind after allocating memory for VM ,you need to keep at least 4GB memory free for the Host running Hyper-V(mean your laptop or PC).
In here you need to create Virtual Network and Map/Link relevant Network Adapter which has outside Access and then select from drop down , select newly created Virtual Network Under Connection as shown below.
then Click Next.
Select "Use an existing virtual hard disk" option and Browse for Extracted .vhd File
In my case FinanceAndOperations-EEJuly2017withPlatUpdate11.vhd then click on Next.
at last you will see this summary screen. Click Finish to complete VM Setup.
After click finish.you can see newly created VM on Hyper-V manager .
Then right click on VM name and from the Right Click menu Click on Start. If every thing OK. then VM will Start and Status will changed to Running State. :).
Then Right Click on Instance and Click on Connect.
Congratz !!!, Now your VM Running and Use pass@word1 as password to Login.
Enjoy !!! :)
